It’s that time of year again: one of the most exciting golf events, the US PGA Championship, will take place from 9th – 12th August in South Carolina. Now in its 94th year, it is one of the four major championships in professional golf and the season’s final major as it is played in mid-August.
Each year, the championship rounds off the golfing season fantastically and it is nicknamed ‘Glory’s last shot’ for this reason.
This year the tournament will take place on one of golf’s most storied venues, the awe-inspiring Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Recognised in the golf media as one of the toughest courses in the world, there’s no doubt that this seaside gem will leave a lasting impression on all those in attendance and watching from around the world.
Let’s also not forget the impression that will be made on the players:
President of PGA America, Allen Wrownowski, comments that:
‘‘The strongest impression will likely be made on the players, who must contend with not only the challenging Dye layout but with the unpredictable notions of Mother Nature as well. It is very possible that we will see completely different versions of The Ocean Course show up over the coming days.’’
Given the challenging nature of the course, the lucky golfer who lifts the Wanamaker Trophy will certainly have earned his place in history.
Here at Camiral, we wait in anticipation for the tournament to begin next week.Let us know you’re thoughts on the championship, we’d love to hear from you!
