It’s been a summer of firsts for our residents here at the Camiral with lots of new community-based activities for getting to know one another. From the planting of vineyards, to a new ping-pong, padel and tennis competition; a landmark ‘Camiral Golf Staff Invite Residents’ golf tournament (the owners triumphed in case you’re curious) to the planting of new vineyards; an our inaugural street party under the stars to a lazy, weekend lunch at one of the regions best restaurants, we very much hope it’s been a summer to remember.
On July 28th thirty-one resident families joined us in helping to establish the resorts very own vineyards. Each family planted one vine, before sipping and swirling their way through a flight of local wines made using the same grapes they’d just planted. Led by expert sommelier Laura Masramon, the tasting kicked off with two sparkling wines, an unusual rosé made using red Grenache, and a classical cava made using the traditional grapes of Xarel.lo, Macabeo and Parellada. The white wine, Mosst 2016, used white Grenache, roja Grenache and Muscat, apple fresh in the mouth with a honeyed finish, while our red wine, Cercium 2015, was inspired by ancient Roman wines using red Grenache, Carignan, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Wine tasting features regularly on our roster events for residents, so if you missed this one, rest assured there will be plenty more.
The weekend of 29th and 30th July kicked off our first sporting weekend with a round of ping-pong, padel and tennis tournaments. Winners were Emili Artigas for tennis, Laura Viscasillas and Emili Artigas for padel, and Sara Viscasillas for ping-pong, as much for their wonderful sportsmanship as a game well played.
We were happy to see so many of you turn out for our lunch outing to Mas Sola on August 3rd. Located in a traditional Catalan farmhouse dating back to the 16th century, it’s one of the best places in the region to sample local ingredients and dishes with a modern twist. We will, of course, keep you up to date on the next outing.
Our second street party kicked off with a bang on August 4th when 60 residents got together for a night of cocktails, dinner and dancing. We hope you had as much fun as we did, and look forward to this new fiesta becoming a fixture on the summer agenda for many years to come.
Finally, on August 6th we introduced our first annual Camiral Residents invite staff Golf Tournament, giving residents the chance to go up against employees on the Golf course. 40 residents and 10 staff participated for the best 5 scores, and our residents, we’re proud to say, triumphed. Friends and family were then invited to a barbecue at the Hotel Camiral’s Pool Bar for a prize-giving ceremony for the trophy that included a raffle for green fees, among other prizes.
