Camiral Resort and Girona Food Tours have partnered to bring the taste of authentic Catalan local life to guests visiting the gastronomically rich region of the Costa Brava in the north-east of Spain.
Unique four-hour walking tours of the medieval city of Girona will allow intimate groups to discover some of the old town’s hidden culinary gems, traditional, family-run eateries and artisan food producers, some of which are almost 250 years old!
A local ‘foodie’ will greet guests at Hotel Camiral, hosting each group and recounting the stories and legends that have helped shape the Catalan Mediterranean day-to-day life and nurture this region’s rich gastronomic heritage.
“There is no better way to experience a destination than through its food,” said Girona Food Tours founder Marco Gonkel. “And when that region is steeped in such culinary heritage and tradition as the Costa Brava is, you are most certainly spoilt for choice.”
From mouth-watering tapas, fresh cheeses, olive oil, and anchovies to traditional local dishes like esqueixada, a salted cod, tomatoes and onions salad, and the popular fried-dough pastry xurros, visitors will be able to sample such delicacies at el Mercat de Lleó (the local market), bustling bakeries and local eateries.
“Girona Food Tours is run by a team of enthusiastic and passionate food lovers, who, like the team at Camiral Resort and its new 5* Hotel Camiral, are eager to share the best flavours Girona and its province have to offer,” added David Plana at Camiral Resort.
“Our mutual love of food and desire to help people discover this culinary haven in the north-east of Spain, were the intrinsic synergies that brought our two businesses together, and we look forward to welcoming lovers of good food and world-class cuisine to the Costa Brava soon.”
