Camiral Resort has been named the number one golf resort in Spain in a prestigious new ranking of Continental Europe’s finest golf resorts.
The European Tour Destination, less than an hour’s drive from vibrant Barcelona and 20 minutes from the beaches of the Costa Brava, was ranked the leading resort in Spain and third overall in the inaugural ‘Top 100 Golf Resorts in Continental Europe’ published in the November issue of Golf World (UK) magazine.
The panel was especially impressed by the resort’s new 5* Hotel Camiral. Opened in June, the 149-room hotel is part of a €53 million investment to make Camiral Resort the leading lifestyle resort in Europe.
The venue already features Spain’s number one golf course1 as well as Europe’s leading new golf and residential community2.
Chris Bertram, Editor of the ‘Top 100 Golf Resorts in Continental Europe’, said: “Camiral Resort has always had the golfing quality. Indeed, its Stadium Course was rated 4th in Golf World’s most recent Continental Europe courses ranking. The addition of the on-site hotel, which is owned and operated by Camiral Resort, significantly enhances the accommodation and amenities.
“This is one of the most elegant hotels in the Top 100 and ensured Camiral Resort was ranked as one of the elite venues on the Continent.”
Complete with three dining experiences, the urban chic of the Hotel Camiral marks a welcome and luxurious addition to the world-class golfing facilities on offer at Camiral Resort. The 7,333-yard Stadium Course – routinely ranked Spain’s number one and host of the 2014 Open de España – is ably supported by the par-72 Tour Course. The resort also boasts Europe’s largest chipping and putting green, the Sergio Garcia Junior Golf Academy and the Dave Pelz Spanish Golf School.
Earlier this year, Camiral Resort, which is a member of the European Tour Properties network of world-class golf venues, announced a three-year, €53m investment programme, which will ultimately deliver a new equestrian centre, a spectacular man-made recreational lake, creating a beach and lakeside club, as well as a hub for a wide range of water sports, and a vineyard.
“We are very proud of our new Hotel Camiral and delighted to see the impact it has already made on our status as a leading golf resort,” says David Plana, CEO at Camiral Resort. “And we are confident we can climb even higher as the new amenities take shape.”
