There’s far more to Catalunya than most visitors realise. Rich in gastronomic and cultural heritage the gentle curves of the countryside make it a popular base for professional cyclists while the coast is one of the most pristine and dramatic in Europe. It’s well worth getting out and exploring, though our newly inaugurated residents activities for the summer of 2017 may well have you wanting to stay home.
Among a myriad of on-site activities ranging from tennis and golf competitions to workshops and classes, we’ve also got Sergio Garcia’s Kids Golf Academy lined up, football games, salsa classes and some locally inspired festive events. These include exclusive-to-residents trips out to the emblematic local restaurants, a street party at which to kick up your heels, and an elegant, pool-side white party for making the most of these balmy, summer nights.
If you’re in the mood to explore how about stepping out to Mas Solà – a 16th century, Catalan masia (farmhouse) – where local products have been given a modern makeover in dishes like l’Escala anchovies confit in olive oil from the Empordà, grilled scallops with artichoke hearts and pork cheek, and char-grilled Costa Brava turbot. Or, wander barefoot in the sand before lunch at Sicra’s where you can feast on traditional rice and seafood dishes, before a siesta by the sea.
Back at the resort, our unique new catch-and-release fishing concept on the lake, is perfect for those lazy summer afternoons; professional grade flower arranging with our in-house florist, which includes a gourmet lunch; and the chance to capture stunning landscapes and wildlife shots on an outdoor photography workshop with pro Toni Vilches. But for the ultimate take-home memory, don’t miss the chance to float high above it all in a jewel-coloured hot air balloon, the most enchanting way to see the region.
As always there’s plenty to thrill food lovers and we’re delighted to introduce master classes in the kitchen of our flagship restaurant where you’ll get to learn the secrets of our chefs. It makes the perfect compliment our wine, cheese and olive oil tastings, as do our cocktail workshops for those looking to put a little wow factor into entertaining at home.
We haven’t forgotten the kids offering pony rides, swimming classes all summer long as well as a dedicated club for children aged 3 to 12 years old, and of course the Sergio Garcia Junior Academy summer camp for kids aged 6 to 16 years old, which runs weekly from 17th July to the 11th August.
Finally, those of you wanting to get in shape this summer, our new Lifestyle Classes, personal training, yoga, pilates, aqua-aerobics and a regular fun run, will soon have you on track.
