Sebastian Ruggieri’s career began 15 years ago in the USA where he studied hotel management and became a certified sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers. He was soon snapped by the Casino Magic Hotel and Beau Rivage Hotel and Casino (both owned and operated by MGM) in Biloxi, Mississippi where he focused his attention on food and beverage. He went on to work as sommelier and wine director at some of the country’s great hotels including the Nemacolin Woodland Resort and Spa and the Lautrec restaurant, one of only 23 establishments in the US to carry 5 Mobile stars and 5 AAA diamonds.
At The Grand Hotel in Michigan he directed a team of 20 wine professionals and became part of a select group of master sommeliers invited to write reviews for an online magazine, Vintrust. This led him to a two-year stint as general manager across celebrity chef, Fabrizio Aielli’s entire restaurant group in Florida. In 2016 he moved to the Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona as assistant food and beverage director where he worked with Catalunya’s own super star chef, Carme Ruscadella, the only female chef in the world to hold 7 Michelin Stars.
Sebastian Ruggieri has recently joined Camiral Resort as Director of Food and Beverage. He brings with him a fresh new vision for creating a laid-back, yet luxurious feeling meeting place for golfers, hotel guests and the general public. Across the board the resort’s restaurants and bars are cozy, yet elegant, with a focus on healthier menu choices. New for 2018 are Italian restaurant, Ciro, in the Caddy Rooms, the Club Café for more casual dining, a food truck by the pool, and a new smoothie station at breakfast. The summer also looks to be an exciting one with a number of different pop-up events scheduled, which will be hosted by celebrity chefs, famous sommeliers and international mixologists. Stay tuned for updates on when and where. This, you won’t want to miss.
